Introducing Backstage, our new organiser app
Backstage makes it easy for organisers to manage content, whilst on-site at their event, even when connectivity is bad.

When events join the VIKIN Event Apps platform, their event data remains in their control. Our easy-to-use organiser portal makes it effortless for organisers to add, manage, and update their event data; across setlists, stage information, food vendors, sponsors, utility locations and more. Publishing changes to attendees is a breeze, with a one-click publish flow that pushes your changes to attendees.
Today, we’ve released a brand new organiser tool that makes it even easier to manage event content when you’re on the go, with our brand new organiser app: Backstage!
What can you do with Backstage?
Backstage will soon be the easiest way to manage all of your event content: your setlist times, utility locations, sponsors, food vendors, artist information and more. It’s also the quickest way to communicate directly with attendees, via our push notifications and in-app content posts.
For the first version, we’ve focused on a key challenge we know all events face: arriving on site to find that on-site locations - stages, food vendors, utilities and more - are in slightly different places than your production site map was anticipating.
Organisers can use their existing VIKIN organiser accounts to log into Backstage and select their project. Organisers can then add, manage, update, and delete locations in Backstage, and then when they’re ready, they can publish everything to the attendee apps.
We’ve made it so easy to make changes to locations - just tap on the one you want to change, and then drag it to the new position on-site. As your phone knows where you are, you can be confident that you’re making the right changes based on what’s around you. When editing places, you can still see the other locations in Backstage, making it possible to align locations and create a neat layout for attendees.
More functionality will be added to Backstage, in line with our existing client’s priorities, over the next few months.
How does it work in the field?
As we know that phone signal can be a struggle out on site, Backstage is created to function away from the internet.
When organisers first log in, Backstage will download the event’s latest data directly to the phone. This data can then be updated on-the-go, with changes saved on the phone. Once all changes are made in the field, organisers can then return to their production office or another location with internet access to then send the changes up to the VIKIN platform for distribution to attendees.
Using the same technology as our attendee apps, we send only the minimum amount of data possible over the network, meaning Backstage can work reliably even when the signal is poor.
What will be added in the future?
We’re working with our existing event partners to add new functionality based on their exact needs - including sending push notifications, rescheduling performances, updating images and viewing event analytics.
Over the next few months, Backstage will gain all of the same functionality as our organiser portal so regardless of where our organisers are, they can manage their event with ease and with confidence.
How can I get started?
All events already on the VIKIN Event Apps platform already have access to the best tooling in the industry, including Backstage. If you’re not already on the VIKIN Event Apps platform, request your no-obligation demo with our founders Ryan and Anete to see how our apps help attendees get more from your event, how our organiser tooling makes it easier for you to manage your event, and get your questions answered.
